2012 Over the Hill Circa 1880 Shiraz

93+ Points / Gold Outstanding – Campbell Mattinson Wine Front Grown on vines planted circa 1880. Hand picked, crushed and open fermented for 12 days. Matured in new and seasoned French oak for 24 months. Dense but vibrant. A soak of red cherry, plum, blackberry and tar, with lifted notes of orange peel and clovey spice. Teeters on the exotic. Tannin is stern and earthen yet still manages to go with the juicy flow of the wine. You’d almost describe this as “dense but light”. Its flavour profile is a modern rendition of a classic McLaren Vale Burgundy style. Rated : 93+ Points (+; has the potential to become better with cellaring) Tasted : May15 Alcohol : 14.5% Price : $75 Closure : Cork Drink : 2016 – 2028
